Cock-of-the-Rock Lodge to Manu River

We met at 6 for breakfast, and were completely distracted by the hummingbirds and tanagers coming into feed. A man put out some bananas, and a couple of Bolivian squirrels showed up as well.

After breakfast, we walked about an hour down the road. The first thing we saw was a troup of Brown Cappuchin monkeys. They were hanging around in a house across the street, and then crossed the road to (presumably) bother our lodge.

Other tours had other ways to travel the road

The road was muddy with many streams (all the water flowing comes from condensation – there are no snow packs or glaciers), but it was nice to stretch our legs. Eventually the bus arrived and we got on. The bus ride was three more hours of shaking, interrupted by an occasional bird siting and one village.
