A full day! (And no traveling, whew!) It started at about 4:30 am with the Howler Monkeys. They were far enough away that they sounded like a windstorm moving through the camp.
Then we walked about two hours through the jungle back to the lake we had visited the day before. We heard Screaming Piha and Nightingale Wrens, both of which proved impossible to see in spite of their loud songs.

David briefly checked for Giant Otters at the lake (nope) and we walked to the river on a different path, took our boat down river a short distance, and walked to another ox-bow lake. This had a tall platform from which we could see most of the lake. We saw birds, turtles, butterflies, and finally a couple of Giant Otters! They were swimming around fishing, and started to come our way, but then disappeared.

We headed back to camp, had lunch and a brief nap, then headed back to the lake.
