Hardy took us on a night walk through the jungle. It was hard – we were going up and down steep, slippery, narrow trails. There were sometimes railings made of rope, although one of them we were warned “don’t use this one – it has fire ants on it.”
We caught a glimpse of a Slow Loris, but beyond that we mostly saw small frogs and large bugs. (And one sleeping Blue-eared Kingfisher.)
We had been given rubber boots for the walk. The final 15 meters was through mud. It had rained the day before, and the mud was very very deep – sometimes going over the top of the boots. Since we were walking single file, if a person ahead got stuck, everyone behind them, and we slowly sunk deeper. It was very hard!
