The next day, we went on a whale watching boat. The captain was 100% devoted to looking for whales – no birds, other mammals, glaciers, etc. Whales. We headed for Point Adolphus where they had been seen.
We saw a lot, but they were feeding pretty assiduously, and they didn’t come up to do much else. So we saw the top of their heads, spouts, and tails (just before they dove.) A wonderful time on the water, although not great for photos.
We learned that once you saw the tail, they had dived, and wouldn’t be up for 8 – 10 minutes. And sometimes in a totally different location.
