Tabin night drive

For the afternoon, we opted on a long drive – 4 to 7. We sat in the open top of a truck. Saw lots of birds, and one orangutan with a baby.

She was very far away, but still watching us cautiously.
More hornbills!

At a little past 6, we turned around. It had got dark, and Maui took out a flashlight and started shining it in trees and grasses. He was looking for shining eyes, but I was impressed by what he found – I never saw the animals until the truck stopped and he pointed the light.

Civets were common, but I loved the way they look.

Clouded Leopard – very rare. Maui and the driver were very excited when we came across her.

The road we were on bordered the palm plantations and Tabin reserve. Civets, cats, owls, and other predators crossed into the plantation at night to pretty on rats and other critters after the fruit. So it was a good place to see them.
