The next day was busy! We got up at 5:00 to be on the river at 5:45, as the sun rose.
Then, after breakfast, another jungle walk to an overlook. We didn’t see much, though.
Back for lunch, and a little downtime. We got on the river early for the afternoon trip – 3 PM. We were going up-river to look for the elephants. We zipped up the river, not stopping for macaques or egrets. We got to the tributary where the elephants had been recently seen and turned up it. As soon as we headed in, the skies opened up and the rain came down hard.

The saving grace was that it was warm. We got thoroughly soaked, but it wasn’t uncomfortable.
The rain eventually ended, as did the river. Still no elephants.

We turned around and went back towards the Kinabatagan river. At that point, there were lots of monkeys at the end of the river, presumably drying out.
After we dried out and had dinner, we had the option of another night walk or a night cruise. Nick and Sandra went on the walk; Sheila and I (and others) opted to stay at the lodge and rest.
