Back to Sepilok

We left Danum Valley around lunch, and had a long drive back to Sepilok (traffic and rain slowed us down). We had decided to spend an extra day in Sepilok in case we missed anything when we were here at the start of our jungle tour.

We went back to the Orangutan sanctuary and watched the feeding again.

Then we walked to the Rainforest Discovery Center, It was a large enclosed slice of jungle with a canopy walks among the tree tops. I could walk on it for awhile, but then had to descend to the ground and walk the (numerous) paths.

There were a couple of orangutans in the trees, troops of macaques, squirrels, and birds.

We came back in the evening for a night walk. We walked the canopy walk looking for flying squirrels – and found one. He flew an amazing distance, soaring across the walkways. Then (fortunately) we went down to the trails and searched for other weird night life – snakes, toads, bugs.

Under a red light, scorpions glow in the dark. Very cool, but I was a little disturbed by how many the guides found.
Near the end of our walk, we went up on the skywalk again – they had seen a rare Slow Loris

Next day, we packed up, flew to Kuala Lumpur. From there, I flew home and Sheila continued to China for two more weeks of travel.
