Bonito Arrival

We picked up our rental car and headed to Bonito. I was glad we were starting our trip on Sunday morning – the streets were quiet as we got used to our rental car.

It was an easy three hour drive through mostly flat agriculture land. As we got near, the overcast skies turned to drops of rain turned to a downpour.

We got to Bonito and the rain temporarily let up. It was time for lunch, and we found one of the few restaurants open – a large tour group was just leaving. It was called Pantanal Grill and specialized in caiman and piranha meat. (I had pasta, Sheila had the house specially of tilapia.)

We drove to our hotel, which was about 20 kilometers from town at the end of a long unpaved road. It was a beautiful place – even with the pouring rain. We settled into our spacious room, and listen to the thunder and lightning.
