Tarangiri Park

Tarangiri park is less visited than others, but we had been told it was a good place to see birds, so we added to our trip. It was about a six hour drive from Moshi.

This was our full day in Tarangiri park. We drove around and saw plenty of animals and birds.

We were driving around, and saw a larger herd of Land Rovers overlooking a river. That usually meant that something was there to see. It took us awhile, but we circled around to join them. Down on the river bank was a family of cheetahs at a recent kill.

Three cheetas lounging by the river.

It appeared to be a mother and three year-old cubs. A Reedbuck wandered the river, calling and calling for her (dead and eaten) mate.

We all silently willed her to shut up.

The cheetahs all looked hopefully at seconds heading their way.

Fortunately, she must have smelled something. She became silent, and then disappeared.
