JM Butterfly B&B

We flew to Mexico city, spent the night in the airport hotel. The next morning we took an Uber to the bus station, then the bus to Zitácuaro, and then caught a taxi to the smaller town of Macheros. The taxi driver spoke fairly good English – turns out he had visited the US a few times, including once crossing the border illegally (“as you do” was pretty much his attitude) so he could get work.

The B&B was a charming two-building enterprise, with plenty of tourists who had come to see the butterflies. We had a great time chatting about everyone’s travels and adventures. The gathering went fairly late.

We were fortunate that we had arrived the night of the lunar eclipse, and had a good view of it. I took a bunch of pictures, few of which turned out. Turns out that, although I’m getting okay taking pictures of stars, the moon isn’t a star. Oh well – it was still fun to watch.
